Chase Invest Your Points: How to Turn Ultimate Rewards Into Investments

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of the offers mentioned may have expired.
If you have Chase Ultimate Rewards® points sitting in your account with no plan, Chase just added a new way to use them. With Invest Your Points, eligible cardmembers can redeem points for cash that goes into an eligible J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account.
Here's how it works, what your points are worth, and when investing them makes sense compared with travel or cash back.
What Is Chase Invest Your Points?
Invest Your Points is a new Ultimate Rewards redemption option that Chase announced on September 16, 2026. It lets eligible cardmembers redeem points for cash to invest in an eligible J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account.
Chase says customers can also work with a J.P. Morgan advisor to invest in a taxable investment account. Once the cash lands, you choose your own investments.
How Do You Invest Your Chase Points?
- Open or link an eligible account. You need an eligible J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account. You can open one online.
- Go to Ultimate Rewards. Sign in to the Chase Mobile® app or Chase.com and open your rewards.
- Choose Invest Your Points. It appears alongside other redemption options like travel, cash back, and gift cards.
- Pick how many points to redeem. The cash goes into your investing account.
- Invest the cash. Buy the stocks, ETFs, or funds that fit your goals.
J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing offers commission-free online trades on U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs. Other fees may apply, so check J.P. Morgan's pricing page before you trade.
Investing involves risk, including possible loss of the principal amount invested. Investment products are not FDIC insured, not a deposit, and not guaranteed by any bank.
The more points you earn, the more you have to invest. In Kudos, you can customize your cards' categories, and Kudos automatically recommends the best card in your wallet for each purchase, so your Chase card earns its top rate where it counts.

How Much Are Chase Points Worth When You Invest Them?
Invest Your Points redeems your points at 1 cent each, the same rate as redeeming for cash back. For example, 20,000 points become $200 to invest.
Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on a redemption value of 1 cent per point.
That means investing doesn't make your points worth more than cash back. What it changes is where the money goes, straight into an investing account instead of your checking account or statement.
Transferring points to Chase's airline and hotel partners can be worth more than 1 cent per point, depending on how you redeem. If you travel and are willing to plan around award availability, transfers may get you more value.
Which Chase Cards Earn Ultimate Rewards Points?
Chase says cards in its Chase Sapphire, Chase Freedom, and Chase Ink portfolios earn Ultimate Rewards points. Cards that earn "cash back" in these families, like the Freedom cards, earn it as Ultimate Rewards points. Popular options include:
- Personal: Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, and Chase Freedom Flex®
- Business: Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card, and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠
Chase hasn't published a full eligibility list, so check the Invest Your Points option in your account to confirm.
Chase Sapphire Reserve®: Points are not earned until after the first $300 is spent annually on travel purchases. The first $300 goes toward the $300 Annual Travel Credit.

Should You Invest Your Chase Points?
When It Makes Sense
- You have points piling up with no travel plans
- You'd redeem for cash back anyway, and want the money to go straight to investing
- You already use, or want to open, a J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account
When Another Redemption May Be Better
- You travel often and can use transfer partners for higher value
- Your card offers a better rate on certain redemptions
- You don't want another investing account
If you're unsure how redeeming points affects your taxes, check with a tax professional.
