Amazon Prime's $20 Off $30 Grubhub Code Stacks With the Amex Gold Dining Credit

Amazon Prime members can take $20 off a $30 Grubhub order with promo code DEALS20 through October 5, 2026. On its own that is a good deal. Paired with the American Express® Gold Card monthly dining credit, a $30 order can end up costing close to nothing.
The Grubhub offer
- $20 off orders of $30 or more on Grubhub or Seamless with code DEALS20.
- Activation required through the Amazon offer page before you order.
- Pickup or delivery both qualify, which is unusual for a promo this size.
- Valid September 15 through October 5, 2026.

Stacking the Amex Gold dining credit
The Amex Gold carries up to $10 a month in statement credits at five partners: Grubhub (including Seamless), Buffalo Wild Wings, Five Guys, The Cheesecake Factory, and Wonder. Enrollment is required, the credit resets on the first of each month, and anything unused disappears rather than rolling over. The cap is $120 per calendar year per Card Account, not per card, so additional cardholders draw from the same $10.
Run the two together on a $30 order and the math looks like this:
- $30 order, minus $20 from code DEALS20, leaves roughly $10.
- Pay with the enrolled Amex Gold and the $10 monthly dining credit applies to that charge.
- What you are left with is taxes and any fees the credit does not fully absorb.
Be realistic about the last line. Taxes and service fees ride on top, so this is close to free rather than exactly free, and how close depends on your state and the restaurant. The credit applies to the amount actually charged to the card, so a slightly larger order simply means you pay the difference.
Two exclusions worth knowing before you order. Gift cards and other non-dining purchases do not qualify, so buying a Grubhub gift card to bank the credit will not work. And only one statement credit is issued per transaction, so splitting an order into two payments does not get you two credits.

The Amex Gold dining credit resets each month and does not roll over. You won't miss out on another monthly credit with Kudos, though.

How to stack it, step by step
- Enroll the Amex Gold dining credit first. Log in to your Amex account, open Benefits, and select Enroll Now. Only the Basic Card Member or an Authorized Account Manager can enroll, and an unenrolled credit does not pay out retroactively.
- Activate the Amazon offer. Go to the Amazon Prime Grubhub offer page and claim it while signed in to the Prime account you intend to use.
- Build an order of $30 or more before taxes and fees, since the minimum is measured on the subtotal.
- Apply code DEALS20 at checkout and confirm the $20 has come off before you place the order.
- Pay with the enrolled Amex Gold. The statement credit usually posts within a few days, but Amex allows itself up to eight weeks, so do not panic if it is not immediate.
The order matters. Enrolling the credit after you have already paid is the most common way people miss it.

If the code will not apply
A number of people have hit an error applying DEALS20, usually when their Grubhub account and Amazon account are linked in a way the promotion does not recognize. The workaround that has been working: unlink your Grubhub account, then use the Amazon login option at Grubhub checkout instead of signing in directly. The promo code generally sticks after that. If it still fails, do not place the order and assume it will be fixed afterward. Promotional discounts are applied at checkout and are not usually added retroactively.
Common questions
Which restaurants count for the Amex Gold dining credit?
Grubhub (including Seamless), Buffalo Wild Wings, Five Guys, The Cheesecake Factory, and Wonder. Purchases have to be made directly with the partner at a U.S. location, so a Cheesecake Factory inside a hotel or airport may not trigger the credit.
Does the Grubhub promo code work on pickup orders?
Yes. Both pickup and delivery orders qualify for DEALS20, which is worth knowing because pickup avoids delivery-related fees entirely.
Do I need Grubhub+ to use the code?
No. You need an Amazon Prime membership and you need to activate the offer. Grubhub+ comes free with Prime and helps separately by waiving delivery fees on eligible orders.
Can I use the Amex Gold credit more than once this month?
No. The dining credit is capped at $10 per month, up to $120 per calendar year across every card on the account. If you use it on this Grubhub order, it is spent until the first of next month.
Does Seamless count?
Yes. Seamless is part of Grubhub and is treated the same way by both the promotion and the Amex Gold credit.
Does every Amex Gold card qualify?
No. The credit is for U.S. Consumer Gold Card accounts. Traditional Gold, Senior Gold and Classic Gold are not eligible.
When does the offer end?
October 5, 2026. The Amex Gold credit is ongoing and resets monthly, so the deadline that actually binds here is Amazon's.
The bottom line
Two things have to line up for this to work: an activated Amazon offer and an enrolled Amex Gold dining credit. Get both in place before you check out and a $30 Grubhub order costs you roughly the tax. Get the order wrong and you are simply paying $30 for dinner.
The offer runs through October 5, 2026. The monthly credit resets regardless, so there is no reason to hold it back.
