American Express Membership Rewards is offering a 30% transfer bonus into the Avios ecosystem through September 27, 2026 — and unlike some recent transfer promotions, every Membership Rewards card qualifies for the full bonus.
The Bonus Details
- Bonus: 30% on transfers to British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, and Aer Lingus AerClub — all three share the same Avios currency.
- The math: transfer 1,000 Amex points and receive 1,300 Avios.
- No card-tier restriction: widely held cards for the full bonus, not just premium or business products.
- Expires: September 27, 2026.
Is It Worth Transferring?
Avios is a distance-based currency, so it rewards short, cheap award flights more than one long one — a one-way economy award within Europe can run as low as 7,500 Avios. The 30% bonus lowers your effective cost-per-mile by close to a quarter, which matters most if you already have a specific short- or medium-haul redemption in mind.
Don't transfer speculatively. Amex points are flexible across more than a dozen partners, while Avios only works for Avios-chart redemptions, and the transfer is one-way. Confirm award availability on your target flight before you move a single point.
