Fidelity Is Removing $3,000 of Luggage Coverage From Its 2% Card
September 11, 2026

On January 1, 2027, the Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® loses two benefits, including lost luggage reimbursement worth up to $3,000 per trip. Most coverage is framing this as a cut. That is only half the story, and the other half has a deadline attached.

Most people cannot name what their cards actually cover. Kudos keeps the benefit list for each of your cards in one place so you find out before the airport, not after. See how perk tracking works
What goes away on January 1, 2027
- Lost Luggage Reimbursement. Up to $3,000 per covered trip, on a checked or carry-on bag.
- Purchase Security. $500 per claim, $50,000 per cardholder, covering 90 days.
Both run until the end of 2026, so anything you buy on the card this year is still covered.
Kudos tracks the benefits attached to every card you carry, so a coverage change buried in a mailed notice does not become something you discover at a baggage desk.
Benefits are not the only thing hiding on your statement. Kudos finds recurring charges you no longer use and cancels them. Find your forgotten subscriptions.
What Fidelity is adding
This is the part most write-ups leave out. Two benefits arrive alongside the removals:
- One complimentary year of National Car Rental Emerald Club Executive status. This requires enrolling by December 31, 2026.
- Up to $2,500 of emergency medical and dental on a covered trip, with a $50 deductible.
So it is a trade rather than a straight cut. But only one side of the trade needs you to do anything, and if you miss the enrollment deadline you get the removal without the replacement.

What stays the same
- Unlimited 2% back into an eligible Fidelity account.
- Up to $100 toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years.
- Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver up to $75,000, primary outside your country of residence.
The core reason most people carry the Fidelity Rewards Visa, a flat 2% with no annual fee, is not changing.
What to do before January
- Buy your winter flights on this card before January 1 while the luggage coverage is still live.
- Enroll in the National Executive status before December 31. This is the step with a hard deadline.
- Then decide whether it still earns its spot in your wallet for 2027.
The bottom line
If the Fidelity Rewards Visa is your default card, this is a ten-minute job: book winter travel on it before January 1, enroll in the rental status before December 31, and note that your bags are covered for the rest of this year. Card benefits rarely fail loudly. They change in a notice nobody opens, and the cost shows up years later at a baggage desk.
