Chase Aeroplan Card Annual Fee Doubles to $195: Keep It or Cancel?

The Chase Aeroplan card annual fee is going from $95 to $195. Chase refreshed the Aeroplan® Credit Card on Sept. 10, 2026, and existing cardholders start paying the new fee at renewals dated Dec. 1, 2026 or later.
If your renewal is coming up, here is what the extra $100 buys and what disappears on Jan. 1, 2027.

What Changed on the Aeroplan Card
Existing cardholders got the new benefits right away:
- Automatic Aeroplan 25K status every year with no spending requirement, including priority check-in and boarding
- $100 in Air Canada credits: two $50 credits, one for January to June and one for July to December
- 15% off eligible Air Canada award flights booked with points
- Free first checked bag for you and up to eight companions on Air Canada
- Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS credit of up to $120 every four years
Going forward, the card earns 3 points per dollar on travel and Air Canada purchases, 2 points on gas, dining, and groceries, and 1 point on everything else. Existing cardholders keep 3x on grocery and dining through Dec. 31, 2026.
Kudos tracks semiannual credits like the Aeroplan card's two $50 Air Canada credits, so you know which half-year credit is still unused before it resets.

When Does the Higher Chase Aeroplan Card Annual Fee Apply?
New applicants pay $195 immediately. Existing cardholders pay it at their first renewal dated Dec. 1, 2026 or later. If your card renews in October or November, you pay $95 one more time and get a full year of the new perks at the old price.

Aeroplan Card Benefits Ending Dec. 31, 2026
Three perks long-time cardholders valued are going away after Dec. 31, 2026:
- 3x on grocery and dining drops to 2x
- The 500-point bonus for every $2,000 spent, up to 1,500 points a month
- The 10% bonus on transfers of 50,000 or more Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Aeroplan, worth up to 25,000 points a year
Pay Yourself Back at 1.25 cents per point also runs only through Dec. 31, 2026. Chase has not said what replaces it.
Is the Aeroplan Card Worth $195?
The math hinges on Air Canada. If you use both $50 credits, the card costs you $95 net, the same as before. Add free bags and the 15% award discount, and frequent Air Canada flyers come out ahead.
If you mostly used the card for grocery and dining earning, or to transfer Chase points with the 10% bonus, you lose those perks and pay $100 more. For that profile, the card no longer fits.
The Bottom Line
Keep the card if you fly Air Canada at least twice a year and will use both credits. If you do not, call Chase before your renewal posts to ask about a retention offer or a product change to a no-annual-fee Chase card, which keeps your credit history intact.
