Which Credit Cards Come With Walmart+? Best Cards for Walmart in 2026
September 27, 2026

Walmart+ is Walmart's paid membership, and plenty of shoppers get it without paying out of pocket. Two American Express cards cover the monthly fee with a statement credit, and Walmart's own credit card pays its top rate only to Walmart+ members.
This guide covers what Walmart+ includes, which cards pay for it, how to make sure the credit posts every month and which card to use when you check out at Walmart.
Kudos tip: A monthly credit is easy to forget. Kudos tracks the statement credits on the cards in your wallet, including the Walmart+ credit, so you can see what you have used and what is still available. Create a free Kudos account.
What Is Walmart+ and How Much Does It Cost?
Walmart+ costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month. College students and people who receive qualifying government assistance can join for $49 per year through Walmart+ Student and Walmart+ Assist.
Walmart+ Is $49 for a Year Right Now
Walmart is currently offering an annual membership for $49, half the usual $98 price. New members can also start with a 30-day trial for $1.
Existing members have reported getting the $49 price by going to Manage Membership in their Walmart account and starting to cancel, which brings up the offer. It does not show up for everyone, and some long-time members have only been offered the full $98 renewal.
Kudos tip: If you have one of the American Express cards covered below, skip the annual deal. Their Walmart+ credit only applies to the monthly plan, so a monthly membership charged to your card already costs you nothing.
What Walmart+ Includes
- Free shipping: free shipping from Walmart.com with no order minimum
- Free delivery from your store: free same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more, where your local store offers it
- Gas savings: 10 cents off per gallon at Walmart, Exxon, Mobil and Murphy stations
- Streaming: your choice of Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium, both ad-supported, with the option to switch every 90 days
- Walmart+ Travel: earn Walmart Cash on eligible travel bookings
- Early access: a head start on major sales events and members-only deals
- Extras: perks such as returns from home and member savings at Burger King
Delivery depends on your address. If no Walmart store near you delivers, you still get shipping, gas savings, streaming and the other perks, but the grocery delivery benefit will not apply.
Which Credit Cards Come With Walmart+?
Two American Express cards include a monthly Walmart+ credit. Both work the same way: pay for a monthly Walmart+ membership with the card, and American Express credits the cost back to your statement.
The Platinum Card® from American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express (See Rates & Fees) gives you a statement credit of up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes each month when you pay for a monthly Walmart+ membership with the card. American Express values the benefit at $155 per year.
The card carries an $895 annual fee, so Walmart+ is a small piece of its value. The Platinum Card® is built around travel and lifestyle credits, and it earns 1X Membership Rewards® points on Walmart purchases. It makes the most sense when you already use its other benefits and treat Walmart+ as a bonus on top.

American Express® Business Gold Card
The American Express® Business Gold Card (See Rates & Fees) has the same benefit. Pay for a monthly Walmart+ membership with the card and get up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes back each month. The annual fee is $375.
Because it is a business card, it fits small business owners who already buy supplies at Walmart and want a card built around business spending.

How the Walmart+ Credit Works
- Monthly plan only: the credit applies to the monthly membership. If you pay annually, switch to monthly billing before your renewal date.
- Pay with the eligible card: the membership charge has to post to your Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card.
- Plus Ups are excluded: add-ons to your membership are not covered.
- One membership per account: you get one Walmart+ credit per card account each month.
To get started, open the Benefits section of your American Express account and follow the Walmart+ link, or add your card as the payment method in your Walmart+ account settings.

How to Track Your Walmart+ Credit With Kudos
The Walmart+ credit is worth up to $155 a year, but only if it posts every month. A replacement card number, a declined payment or a switch back to annual billing can quietly stop the credit, and many cardholders do not notice until months later.
Kudos keeps your card benefits in one place. Once you add your Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card, Kudos shows the Walmart+ credit alongside your other monthly and annual credits, so you can check at a glance whether it has been used this month.
A few habits help the credit land every time:
- Update your Walmart+ payment method as soon as you get a replacement card.
- Confirm the credit on your statement each month. If it is missing after a full billing cycle, contact American Express.
- Keep your membership on monthly billing.
Kudos tip: The Platinum Card® has credits that reset monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually. Kudos puts all of them on one screen so the Walmart+ credit does not get lost among the rest. See your card benefits in Kudos.
What Is the Best Credit Card to Use at Walmart?
Walmart is a superstore, and many grocery and supermarket bonus categories exclude superstores. A card that earns 3% or more at grocery stores may earn only 1% on the same groceries at Walmart, so check your card's terms before you assume a bonus applies.
These three cards earn well at Walmart without relying on a grocery category.

OnePay CashRewards World Mastercard®: Best for Walmart+ Members
The OnePay CashRewards World Mastercard® is Walmart's credit card, issued by Synchrony Bank. Walmart+ members earn unlimited 5% cash back at Walmart, in store and online. Without Walmart+, the rate is 3%. Purchases from third-party sellers on Walmart.com do not count toward the Walmart rate, and everything else earns 1.5%. There is no annual fee.
For a limited time, if you apply between September 2 and December 31, 2026, you earn 3% on all other purchases for your first 90 days.
This is where Walmart+ and your other cards work together. The 5% rate requires an active Walmart+ membership, and the Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card can cover the cost of that membership. Check OnePay's terms for how to link your Walmart+ account to the card.
If you spend $300 a month at Walmart, 5% back works out to $180 a year, compared with $72 on a 2% card.
Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on $3,600 in annual Walmart purchases at 5% and 2% cash back.

Robinhood Gold Credit Card: Best Flat-Rate Option
The Robinhood Gold Credit Card earns 3% cash back on eligible purchases everywhere, Walmart included, so you do not need Walmart+ to get its top rate. The card has no annual fee, but it is only available to Robinhood Gold members, and that subscription costs $50 per year.
It fits shoppers who split their spending across Walmart and many other stores and want one card that earns the same rate at all of them.

Citi Double Cash® Card: Best No-Fee Flat Rate
The Citi Double Cash® Card earns 2% on every purchase: 1% when you buy and another 1% as you pay for those purchases. To earn cash back, you need to pay at least the minimum due on time. There is no annual fee and no membership required.
Kudos tip: When you check out at Walmart.com, Kudos autofills the card in your wallet that earns the most there, so your 5% card gets used at Walmart and your flat-rate card gets used everywhere else. Add Kudos to Chrome for free.

Are There Card-Linked Offers for Walmart Right Now?
Card-linked offers are deals that card issuers load into your account, such as Amex Offers and Chase Offers. You add the offer to your card, make a qualifying purchase and get a statement credit or bonus points.
Amex Offer: $49 Back on a Walmart+ Annual Membership
American Express has a targeted Amex Offer for a one-time $49 statement credit when you spend $98 or more on a Walmart+ annual membership. It is showing up on cards beyond the Platinum Card®, including the American Express® Gold Card (See Rates & Fees), so check the Offers section for each of your Amex cards. Here are the key terms:
- Deadline: the charge must post to your account by November 14, 2026.
- Where to buy: purchase online at walmart.com/plus/amexoffer or in the Walmart app. Other Walmart.com purchases and in-store purchases do not count.
- Annual only: monthly memberships are excluded.
- Free trials: if you start with a trial, the charge may not post until the trial ends, so leave enough time before the deadline.
- Limits: enrollment is limited, and you can earn one statement credit per eligible card account.
- Timing: the credit typically posts within 30 days of your purchase.
This offer cannot be stacked with Walmart's own $49 promotional price, so you end up paying $49 either way. The membership also renews automatically at the full price unless you cancel.
Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more. Eligibility and Benefit level varies by Card. Terms, Conditions, and Limitations Apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details. Underwritten by Amex Assurance Company.
Other Walmart Offers
Walmart shopping offers show up regularly too, but they do not last long. In August 2026, some Platinum Card® members were targeted for $20 back on a $60 Walmart.com purchase, usable twice, and that offer ended September 2, 2026.
Offers like these are targeted, so they vary by card and by cardholder. Keep these rules in mind:
- Add the offer to your card before you make the purchase.
- Many Walmart offers apply only to Walmart.com and the Walmart app, not in-store purchases.
- If you have more than one card from the same issuer, each card can show different offers.
Kudos tip: Instead of scrolling through every card's offer list, Kudos can activate card-linked offers across your linked cards at once, so a Walmart offer is already on your card when you check out. Link your cards in Kudos.
Is Walmart+ Worth It?
If you hold the Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card, the credit covers the monthly fee, so the real question is whether you will use the perks. Choosing a streaming service you would otherwise pay for and using the gas discount adds value quickly.
Without one of those cards, Walmart+ costs $98 a year, or $49 for a year while Walmart's promotion lasts. It tends to pay off if at least one of these is true:
- You already pay for Paramount+ or Peacock, which Walmart+ can replace.
- You order from Walmart.com often, especially small orders that would otherwise need to reach a shipping minimum.
- You live near a store that delivers and you buy groceries often.
- You spend enough at Walmart that the OnePay card's higher rate covers the fee. Moving from 3% to 5% back covers $98 at about $4,900 a year in Walmart spending, or $49 at about $2,450.
Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on the $98 annual Walmart+ fee, the $49 promotional price and the 2 percentage point difference between the OnePay CashRewards World Mastercard® Walmart rates with and without Walmart+.
It is a harder sell if you live outside a delivery area, shop at Walmart only a few times a year or already get similar perks from another membership.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Amex Platinum pay for Walmart+?
Yes. The Platinum Card® from American Express gives you a statement credit of up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes each month when you pay for a monthly Walmart+ membership with the card.
Does the American Express® Gold Card include Walmart+?
No. The personal American Express® Gold Card (See Rates & Fees) does not have a Walmart+ credit. The American Express® Business Gold Card does.
Does the Walmart+ credit cover an annual membership?
No. The credit applies only to the monthly Walmart+ membership. If you pay annually, switch to monthly billing before your renewal date to start receiving the credit.
Is Walmart+ on sale right now?
Yes. Walmart is offering a year of Walmart+ for $49 instead of $98, and new members can try it for 30 days for $1. Existing members have reported finding the $49 offer by starting to cancel under Manage Membership, though it does not appear for everyone.
What is the best credit card for Walmart purchases?
For Walmart+ members, the OnePay CashRewards World Mastercard® earns 5% cash back at Walmart. If you shop at many stores, a flat-rate card like the Robinhood Gold Credit Card (3%) or the Citi Double Cash® Card (2%) earns the same rate at Walmart and everywhere else.
Does Walmart count as a grocery store for credit card rewards?
Usually not. Many cards exclude superstores like Walmart from their grocery and supermarket categories, so grocery purchases at Walmart often earn the card's base rate. Check your card's terms to be sure.
Can I get Walmart+ for free?
The Platinum Card® and the Business Gold Card each cover a monthly Walmart+ membership with a statement credit. Without one of those cards, the cheapest options are Walmart's current $49 annual price or 50% off through Walmart+ Student and Walmart+ Assist.
The Bottom Line
If you have the Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card, put your Walmart+ membership on monthly billing and charge it to that card. If you do not, grab the $49 annual price while it lasts. Either way, pair the membership with the OnePay CashRewards World Mastercard® for 5% back if you shop at Walmart often, and keep an eye on card-linked offers for extra savings on Walmart.com orders.
