Does Labcorp Report to Credit Bureaus?

Does Labcorp Report to Credit Bureaus?
Labcorp does not say it reports patient bills to the credit bureaus, and its billing page makes no mention of credit reporting. A lab bill on its own does not show up on your credit report.
The risk comes if a bill goes unpaid long enough to be sent to a collection agency. Even then, the three major credit bureaus have voluntary policies that keep many medical collections off your report.
How Does a Labcorp Bill Relate to Your Credit?
Labcorp is a clinical laboratory that runs tests ordered by your doctor, from routine blood work to genetic testing. It bills you for what your insurance does not cover, but it is not a lender, so a normal bill is not a credit account.
If you do not pay, the account may eventually be handed to a third-party debt collector. A collection agency is the party that could report the debt, subject to the bureau policies and state laws below.
When Can Medical Debt Appear on Your Credit Report?
Under policies Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion adopted voluntarily, medical debt is treated differently from other debt:
- Medical debt is not reported until it has been delinquent for at least one year.
- Medical collections under $500 are not reported, even if unpaid.
- Paid medical collections are removed from your credit report.
A 2025 federal rule that would have removed medical debt from credit reports entirely was vacated by a court in July 2025, so these voluntary policies are what apply nationally. About 15 states and Washington, D.C. have their own laws that limit medical debt reporting further.
How Could an Unpaid Labcorp Bill Affect Your Credit Score?
If a Labcorp bill of $500 or more goes unpaid for more than a year and is reported as a collection, it can lower your score. A collection account can stay on your report for up to seven years from the original delinquency.
Paying the collection in full removes it from your report under the bureaus' medical debt policy. Our guide on how long collections stay on your credit report covers the general rules.
How Can You Pay a Labcorp Bill?
Labcorp says it accepts all major credit cards and HSA cards, and online payments can also use PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. You can pay through the Labcorp Patient portal, as a guest online, by phone at 800-845-6167, by mail, by scanning the QR code on your bill, or at an in-person kiosk.
Paying with a rewards credit card can earn cash back or points on a bill you owe anyway, as long as you pay the card in full. See our guide to using credit cards for medical expenses, and let Kudos recommend the best card in your wallet for the payment.
How Can You Keep a Labcorp Bill Off Your Credit Report?
- Check the bill against your insurer's explanation of benefits. Billing and coding errors happen, so call Labcorp Patient Billing if something looks wrong.
- Ask for a payment plan. Labcorp offers payment plans through the MyLabcorp app, its online portal, a patient service center, or by phone.
- Look into discounted self-pay options. If you are uninsured or your plan does not cover the test, ask about the LabAccess Partnership Program or request a Good Faith Estimate before your test.
- Use tax-advantaged funds. An HSA or FSA card can cover eligible lab costs.
