Amex Business Platinum Wireless Credit and 2X Shipping Are Narrowing in 2027: What to Know
September 27, 2026

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of the offers mentioned may have expired.
American Express is narrowing two everyday perks on The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. Starting February 17, 2027, the up to $10 monthly wireless credit and the 2X points on U.S. shipping providers will only apply at a short list of named merchants.
If you pay a major carrier and ship through UPS, FedEx, or USPS, little changes for you. If you use a smaller wireless brand or a shipping reseller, you have until February 17, 2027 to adjust.
What Is Changing on the Amex Business Platinum Card?
Amex updated the card's terms to limit two benefits, effective February 17, 2027:
- Wireless credit: The up to $10 monthly statement credit will only apply to wireless purchases made directly with 11 named providers.
- 2X on shipping: Bonus points on U.S. shipping will only apply to purchases made directly with seven named shipping companies.
Nothing changes before February 17, 2027, and the card's other benefits are not part of this update.

Which Wireless Carriers Qualify for the Amex Business Platinum Wireless Credit?
From February 17, 2027, the wireless credit only applies to purchases made directly with these 11 providers:
- Verizon
- AT&T
- T-Mobile
- Frontier
- Comcast
- Charter
- Spectrum Mobile
- UScellular
- Optimum
- Ultra Mobile
- Mint Mobile
The credit amount is not changing. It stays at up to $10 per month (up to $120 per year), and enrollment is still required.
Who Loses the Wireless Credit?
Any carrier not on the list stops qualifying, including well-known prepaid and MVNO brands. Reporting so far names US Mobile, Boost Mobile, Total Wireless, and Tracfone as excluded.
Sub-brands are a gray area. Visible and Total Wireless run on Verizon's network, but they bill under their own names, so plan on them not counting unless Amex says otherwise.
Does This Affect the Amex Business Gold Card Too?
Yes. The American Express® Business Gold Card earns 4X points on your top two eligible categories each billing cycle, on up to $150,000 in combined purchases per calendar year, then 1X. From the same date, its wireless category narrows to the same 11 carriers, and its advertising category narrows to Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, GoDaddy, and Yelp.
Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more. Which Shipping Providers Still Earn 2X on the Amex Business Platinum?
The Business Platinum earns 2X points on select business categories, including U.S. shipping providers, on up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year, then 1X. From February 17, 2027, the shipping portion only counts for purchases made directly with these seven merchants:
- UPS
- FedEx
- United States Postal Service
- Auctane (parent company of ShipStation and Stamps.com)
- DHL
- Worldwide Express
- Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc.
Until February 17, 2027, shipping purchases keep earning 2X the way they do today.
Who Loses 2X on Shipping?
Businesses that buy postage through a reseller or label platform outside Auctane are the most exposed. Cardholders are already flagging Pirate Ship, which bills under its own name, as a likely casualty.
Shipping costs added to a retail order never counted toward this category, and that does not change.

What Should Business Platinum Cardholders Do Before February 17, 2027?
You have roughly four months before the changes kick in. A few checks now can keep your credits and points intact.
Check Who Bills Your Phone Plan
Look at the merchant name on your statement. If it is not one of the 11 listed carriers, decide whether switching carriers is worth $120 a year to you.
Confirm You Are Enrolled
The wireless credit only posts if you have enrolled the benefit in your Amex account.
Audit Your Shipping Spend
If you buy labels through a third-party platform, see whether you can pay UPS, FedEx, USPS, or DHL directly, or route postage through an Auctane platform like ShipStation or Stamps.com.
Let Kudos Pick the Right Card
If a bill no longer earns a bonus on your Business Platinum, another card in your wallet may earn more on it. Add your cards to Kudos, and it recommends the best card for each purchase, so a bill that loses its Amex bonus can move to your next-best card without guesswork.
With Kudos Premium, you can also track your card's credits in one place, so a monthly credit like the wireless credit does not go unused.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do the Amex Business Platinum wireless and shipping changes take effect?
February 17, 2027. Until then, the wireless credit and 2X shipping category work the same way they do today.
Does Visible or Total Wireless count for the Amex wireless credit?
Neither brand is on the eligible list, even though both run on Verizon's network. Plan on them not qualifying after February 17, 2027.
Is the Amex Business Platinum wireless credit amount changing?
No. The credit is still up to $10 per month, up to $120 per year, with enrollment required. Only the list of eligible carriers is changing.
Do ShipStation and Stamps.com still earn 2X points?
They should. Both are owned by Auctane, which is on the eligible shipping list. Check that the charge posts under an Auctane merchant name on your statement.
Does Pirate Ship still earn 2X on the Amex Business Platinum?
Pirate Ship is not on the eligible list, so purchases there are not expected to earn the 2X shipping bonus after February 17, 2027.
Can Kudos help me pick the right card after the change?
Yes. Kudos automatically recommends the best card in your wallet for each purchase based on your preferences.
The Bottom Line
The Business Platinum keeps its wireless credit and 2X shipping category, but starting February 17, 2027, both only count at the companies Amex names. Check who you pay now so you are not surprised next year.
Add your cards to Kudos, and it will recommend the best card for each purchase, so your business keeps earning the most on every charge before and after the change.
