Citi AAdvantage Executive Card's Annual Fee Is Jumping to $695 — And Getting a Real Refresh
July 1, 2025

Citi and American Airline are giving the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® its biggest refresh in years, and it comes with a fee increase. Starting August 23, 2026, new cardmembers will pay a $695 annual fee, up $100 from $595.
This isn't a bare fee hike with nothing attached. Citi is bundling in more statement credits, higher AAdvantage mile earning rates, and expanded Loyalty Point bonuses, plus new hotel and rental car perks.
What's Changing: The Fee
- New annual fee: $695, up from $595 — a roughly 17% increase
- Effective August 23, 2026 for new cardmembers
- Existing cardholders who've held the card more than 12 months get a grace period
- Citi will notify existing members in August or September 2026
- The new fee applies at each cardholder's next anniversary date, not all at once — some existing members won't feel the increase until well into 2027

What's New: The Perks Bundle
Alongside the fee increase, Citi is adding:
- More statement credits
- Higher AAdvantage mile earning rates
- Expanded Loyalty Point bonuses
- Complimentary Omni Hotels & Resorts® Champion status
- An annual free night after a qualifying Omni stay
- Avis® President's Club status
Core Value Still Comes Down to Admirals Club Access
The card is still built around American Airlines Admirals Club® access, which remains its core value driver for frequent AA flyers. We've previously broken down whether the Admirals Club math justified the old $595 fee, and that same lounge-access math is now the starting point for evaluating the $695 version.
Whether the new statement credits and hotel and rental-car perks offset the extra $100 depends entirely on how many of them a given cardholder will actually use.
Part of a Broader Pattern
This is part of a wider trend among premium travel and co-brand cards. Issuers are betting that premium travelers will pay more for exclusivity and curated perks as lounges get more crowded — Citi's move shows co-brand airline cards aren't exempt from that trend either.
What Existing Cardholders Should Do Now
For AAdvantage Executive cardholders, the decision now is the same one facing anyone with a fee increase notice:
- Tally what you actually use — lounge visits, checked bags, companion certificates, the new Omni and Avis perks
- Weigh that total against the $695 fee
- Decide whether to keep the card, downgrade, or look at other loyalty options before the new fee posts
If you'd rather not go through that math alone, our annual fee calculator and retention offer guide walk through the same decision step by step.
Put Your Cards to Work
One easy way to make that math less painful: Kudos tracks the cashback and rewards you're actually earning across every card in your wallet, so you can see in real numbers whether a card's perks are pulling their weight before its next annual fee hits.
FAQs
When does the new $695 fee take effect?
New cardmembers pay $695 starting August 23, 2026. Existing cardholders of more than 12 months get a grace period and won't see the new fee until their next anniversary date after Citi's August/September 2026 notification.
What's actually new with this refresh?
More statement credits, higher AAdvantage mile earning rates, expanded Loyalty Point bonuses, complimentary Omni Hotels & Resorts Champion status, an annual free night after a qualifying Omni stay, and Avis President's Club status.
Is Admirals Club access still included?
Yes — Admirals Club access remains the core benefit and the main reason most cardholders keep this card.
How is this different from the American Express Platinum Card® and Chase Sapphire Reserve® fee increases?
The pattern is the same — issuers pairing a fee increase with new perks — but the AAdvantage Executive is a co-brand airline card built around Admirals Club access, while Platinum and Sapphire Reserve lean more on broader lounge networks and lifestyle credits.

Bottom Line
A $100 fee increase is real money, but Citi didn't just raise the price — it added benefits alongside it. Whether that trade works in your favor depends on how much of the new bundle (and the existing Admirals Club access) you'll actually use. If you're not sure, run the numbers before the new fee hits your account.
