Before August 2026, Sam's Club registers didn't take Apple Pay, Google Pay or tap to pay cards. Walmart, which owns Sam's Club, announced the change on August 21, 2026, and the rollout is happening club by club.

‍

If your club hasn't switched on tap to pay yet, look for the contactless symbol on the card reader or ask at the register. Until then, you can pay with:

  • Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards (inserted or swiped)
  • The Sam's Club Mastercard® and Sam's Club credit card
  • Debit cards
  • SNAP/EBT cards
  • Cash and personal checks
  • Scan & Go in the Sam's Club app, using a card saved to your account
