Chase's New IHG Transfer Bonus Isn't as Good as Last Month's — Here's Why That Matters

Chase is offering a 70% transfer bonus from Ultimate Rewards to IHG One Rewards through August 31, 2026, boosting the effective transfer rate to roughly 1:1.7. It's a good offer on its own — but it's a downgrade from the 100% bonus Chase ran just one month earlier, which expired July 30, 2026.
Doing the Math
Under July's 100% bonus, 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points became 20,000 IHG points. Under August's 70% bonus, that same 10,000 points becomes 17,000 — still a meaningful boost over the standard 1:1 rate, but 3,000 IHG points short of what the same transfer would've earned a month earlier.

Chase-to-IHG isn't the only active transfer bonus this month. As of early August 2026, several other promotions are running at the same time:

Seeing five-plus live bonuses at once is a good reminder that transfer bonuses aren't rare — they're a near-constant feature of this market, and the question is less "is there a bonus" and more "is this the best version of the bonus I'm going to see."

The Bigger Lesson
Compare the current offer against recent history before deciding it's a once-in-a-lifetime deal — in this case, literally last month's history. A 70% bonus feels generous until you remember 100% existed 30 days earlier.
