Chase The Edit Adds 10,000+ Vacation Homes in 2027: How It Compares to Amex and Airbnb Luxe
September 27, 2026

Starting January 1, 2027, Chase is adding more than 10,000 vacation homes to The Edit by Chase Travel℠, its luxury hotel collection. If you travel with family or a group that doesn't fit in one hotel room, this could be the most useful change to the Sapphire lineup in a while.
American Express made a similar move in October, letting Platinum cardmembers use their lodging credit on Airbnb Luxe stays. Below we break down how Chase's version works, the minimum-night rules that are easy to mix up, and how the two programs compare.
What Is The Edit by Chase Travel?
[[ SINGLE_CARD * {"id": "510", "isExpanded": "false", "bestForCategoryId": "52", "bestForText": "Luxury Travel", "headerHint": "THE EDIT CREDITS"} ]]
The Edit is Chase's curated collection of more than 1,500 luxury hotels and resorts, bookable through Chase Travel. When you book a hotel in The Edit with an eligible card, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, your stay typically includes:
- Daily breakfast for two
- A $100 property credit for dining, spa or other on-site activities
- A room upgrade at check-in, when available
- Early check-in and late checkout, when available
- Wi-Fi
Benefits vary by property and some depend on availability. Starting in 2027, vacation homes join the collection, but with a different set of benefits.

What's Changing on January 1, 2027?
On January 1, 2027, The Edit adds more than 10,000 vacation homes curated by Plum Guide, a luxury vacation rental platform that screens homes against more than 150 criteria covering comfort, design and location.
When you book one of these homes through The Edit for four nights or more, you get:
- A $150 in-stay credit toward services such as massages, private chefs or airport pickup
- Early check-in and late checkout, when available
Some benefits are subject to availability and vary by property. Chase also says homes currently need to be booked at least seven days in advance, a window it plans to shorten.
Many card credits reset on January 1. Add your cards to Kudos and the Benefits Tracker shows which credits you still have left this year, so you can plan a stay before an unused credit disappears.

Which Cards Get The Edit Credits?
The bigger news for cardholders is that eligible vacation home stays can now trigger The Edit statement credits, not just hotel stays.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®: up to $500 a year in The Edit statement credits, split into two credits of up to $250 each that can be used any time but can't be combined.
- J.P. Morgan Reserve Card: the same up to $500 a year structure as the Sapphire Reserve.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠: up to $500 in 2026, rising to up to $1,000 a year starting January 1, 2027, as four statement credits of up to $250 each that can be used throughout the year.
The business card increase was announced in September. See our breakdown of the Sapphire Reserve for Business $1,000 Edit credit for the details.
The credits apply to prepaid stays booked through Chase Travel. Stays paid entirely with points don't qualify for The Edit statement credits, but you can still use Ultimate Rewards points toward a booking. If you still have 2026 credits left, here is how to stack your two $250 hotel credits before they expire on December 31.
Points are not earned until after the first $300 is spent annually on travel purchases. The first $300 goes toward the $300 Annual Travel Credit.

How Many Nights Do You Need?
There are two different minimums, and they are easy to mix up:
- Two nights (prepaid) to use one of your The Edit statement credits on a vacation home.
- Four nights to get the vacation home benefits: the $150 in-stay credit plus early check-in and late checkout.
So a prepaid two- or three-night home stay can still use your statement credit, but you won't get the on-property perks. Book four nights or more and you get both.
What Vacation Home Stays Don't Include
Vacation homes don't come with the full hotel benefit package. On a home booking, you won't get the daily breakfast, room upgrade or $100 property credit that come with The Edit hotels. The $150 in-stay credit replaces them.
Chase also told NerdWallet that vacation home bookings won't be eligible for Points Boost at launch, so your points won't stretch further on these stays the way they can on some other Chase Travel bookings.
Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholders can work with Reserve Travel Designers to choose the right home and get help before, during and after the stay. Other eligible Chase cardholders can book vacation homes through Chase Travel today, but those bookings don't include The Edit benefits or credits.
How Does It Compare to Amex Platinum and Airbnb Luxe?
[[ CARD_LIST * {"ids": ["510", "18167", "106", "2290"]} ]]
On October 22, 2026, American Express expanded what used to be the $600 Hotel Credit, now called the Lodging Credit, on The Platinum Card® from American Express (See Rates & Fees) and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (See Rates & Fees).
- Lodging Credit: up to $600 a year, as up to $300 from January to June and up to $300 from July to December.
- Airbnb Luxe: the credit now covers prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays of at least two nights booked through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel app, in addition to Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection.
- Airbnb Experiences credit: booking an eligible prepaid Luxe stay unlocks up to $250 in statement credits on Airbnb Experiences purchased directly from Airbnb by December 31 of that year.
- New two-night rule: starting January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts® bookings will require a two-night minimum to use the credit.

Side-by-Side Comparison
- Start date: The Edit vacation homes start January 1, 2027. Amex and Airbnb Luxe are live now.
- Personal card credit: Chase Sapphire Reserve® offers up to $500 a year. The Platinum Card® offers up to $600 a year.
- Business card credit: Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ offers up to $1,000 a year starting in 2027. The Business Platinum Card® offers up to $600 a year.
- Nights needed for the credit: two prepaid nights for both.
- Extra perk: Chase gives a $150 in-stay credit on stays of four nights or more. Amex unlocks up to $250 in Airbnb Experiences credits once per calendar year.
- Inventory: 10,000+ Plum Guide homes through Chase Travel, versus Airbnb Luxe homes through Amex Travel.
Amex gives more back on its personal card. Chase gives considerably more on its business card starting in 2027. Both require at least two nights to use the credit.
Which Card Is Better for Vacation Homes?
If you already hold one of these cards, the best move is to use the credit you have. Neither is worth opening only for vacation home stays. If you are weighing the Sapphire Reserve, start with our Chase Sapphire Reserve® review and annual fee break-even calculator.
The Chase setup favors longer trips. You need four nights for the on-property benefits, and the business card's four $250 credits work well if you take several shorter trips a year. The Amex setup favors flexibility right now: it's already live, the credit is larger on the personal card, and the Airbnb Experiences credit adds value on top of the stay.
Whichever you hold, watch the calendar. Amex splits its credit into two halves of the year, and both programs reward planning ahead rather than booking at the last minute.

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I book vacation homes through The Edit?
Vacation homes join The Edit on January 1, 2027. Chase cardholders can already book vacation homes through Chase Travel, but those stays don't include The Edit benefits or credits until the homes are part of The Edit.
Does the Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit credit work on vacation homes?
Yes, starting January 1, 2027. A prepaid stay of at least two nights through The Edit can use one of your up to $250 statement credits.
How many nights do I need for The Edit vacation home benefits?
Four nights. That unlocks the $150 in-stay credit and early check-in and late checkout when available. The statement credit only needs a prepaid two-night stay.
Can I use Points Boost on The Edit vacation homes?
Not at launch, according to Chase. You can still use Ultimate Rewards points toward a booking, but stays paid entirely with points don't qualify for The Edit statement credits.
Can I use the Amex Platinum Lodging Credit on Airbnb?
Only on prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays of at least two nights booked through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel app. Regular Airbnb listings don't qualify for the credit.
Do Chase and Amex travel credits reset every year?
Yes. The Edit credits are annual, and the Amex Lodging Credit resets twice a year, in January and July. Unused credits don't roll over, so it helps to track them before they reset.
