Chase Marriott 70% Transfer Bonus (Ends 10/15): Worth It?

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of the offers mentioned may have expired.
The Chase Marriott transfer bonus is running at 70% through October 15, 2026, which ties the highest such bonus on record. It sounds like a lot. Run the numbers and it is still a bad trade for most people, and the points experts covering it broadly agree.

The Offer
From September 15 through October 15, 2026 at 11:59pm ET, 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points become 1,700 Marriott Bonvoy points. There is no cap, and you can use the offer an unlimited number of times. One quirk: the bonus is awarded on Marriott's side rather than Chase's. Your base points post instantly, but the 70% bonus portion can take up to seven days to appear. Chase to Marriott bonuses generally land in the 40% to 70% range, so this sits at the top of the historical band.
Kudos helps you see what each card in your wallet is actually earning, which makes it much easier to judge whether a transfer bonus is worth taking.

Why the Math Still Does Not Work
This is where the headline falls apart.
- The Points Guy values Chase Ultimate Rewards at 2.05 cents per point and Marriott Bonvoy at 0.75 cents. Turn 1 point into 1.7 Bonvoy points and you get about 1.3 cents of value from something worth 2.05 cents.
- One Mile at a Time values Ultimate Rewards at 1.7 cents and Bonvoy at 0.7 cents, for about 1.2 cents per point transferred.
- Frequent Miler puts its Reasonable Redemption Value for Bonvoy at 0.73 cents, landing at roughly 1.24 cents.
Per point values formulated by Kudos, calculated by multiplying each publication's Bonvoy valuation by the 1.7 transfer ratio.
Doctor of Credit put it bluntly: Chase points are too valuable and Marriott points are not valuable enough, even at 70%.

When It Does Make Sense
There is a narrow case. Transfer if you have a specific Marriott award booking priced out, you are short on points, and the transfer closes the gap at a cost per point you have actually checked against the cash rate.Marriott's fifth night free benefit helps here. Redeem points for five consecutive nights and the lowest priced night is free. That can push effective value above the baseline. Resort and destination fees still apply on award stays.
Does Marriott's Dynamic Pricing Change the Calculation?
Yes, and not in your favor if you transfer speculatively. Marriott uses dynamic award pricing with no published maximum, so there is no ceiling on what a property can charge in points. Award prices fluctuate, which means points you transfer today may buy less next month.Transferable currency protects you from that. Bonvoy points do not.
Which Chase Cards Can Actually Transfer
Only three cards unlock transfers to Marriott Bonvoy and Chase's other partners: the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠. Points earned on cash back cards such as the Chase Freedom Flex® can be combined into one of those accounts first, then transferred.
For the Chase Sapphire Reserve®: points are not earned until after the first $300 is spent annually on travel purchases. The first $300 goes toward the $300 Annual Travel Credit.
The Bottom Line
A record Chase Marriott transfer bonus is still a transfer into one of the weakest major hotel currencies, and every valuation says you come out behind unless you have a booking in hand. If you have priced a specific stay and you are short, transfer exactly what you need before October 15. Otherwise leave your Ultimate Rewards where they are.
