How to Book Hotels on Uber and Get Uber One for Free (2026)
July 1, 2025

Uber just made a big move into travel. At its Go-Get 2026 event in New York City, the company announced a partnership with Expedia that lets users book hotels directly through the Uber app, with access to over 700,000 properties worldwide. If you already carry a card that covers your Uber One membership, there are some meaningful discounts to stack.
What Is the Uber x Expedia Hotel Partnership?
Uber users can now search and book hotels directly inside the Uber app, powered by Expedia's inventory. The partnership covers more than 700,000 hotels globally, with Vrbo vacation rentals expected to be added later in 2026. You can even book hotels in cities where Uber does not offer ride-sharing.
Key savings on offer:
- Up to 20% off at a rotating list of 10,000+ hotels
- 10% back in Uber One credits on any hotel booked through Uber (for Uber One members)
- Discounts that stack with existing Uber Cash benefits
A recent search showed the Grand Hyatt San Francisco at $186/night on Uber versus $207 to $210 booked direct, with an additional $53 in Uber One credits on top.
One trade-off to know upfront: you will not earn hotel loyalty points or elite night credits on these bookings, and any customer service issues go through Expedia rather than the hotel directly. For travelers who care more about savings than status, though, the numbers can work out well.
Why Uber One Membership Matters More Now
Uber One costs $9.99 per month ($119.88/year). The membership includes:
- 10% back in Uber One credits on hotel bookings (new)
- 6% back in Uber One credits on Uber rides
- 10% off eligible Uber Eats delivery and pickup orders
- No delivery fees on eligible orders
- 10% back on Uber car rentals
With hotel bookings now in the mix, the membership earns its keep faster. A $500 hotel stay through Uber returns $50 in credits on top of any upfront discount.
Several credit cards cover Uber One at no extra cost.

How to Stack the Savings on Uber Hotel Bookings
Here is what a well-stacked booking could look like:
- Start with a discounted property. Look for hotels in Uber's 10,000+ property list with 20%+ off standard rates.
- Book with Uber One active. You receive an additional 10% back in Uber One credits.
- Pay with a card that earns on travel. Cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Amex Platinum earn bonus points on travel purchases, which Uber bookings may qualify for depending on how they are categorized.
- Use Kudos at checkout. Stack additional rewards on top of your card's base earnings wherever Kudos Boosts apply.

What You Give Up
- No hotel loyalty points. Booking through a third party (Expedia) means Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and other programs will not credit stays to your account.
- No elite night credits. This matters for travelers working toward status.
- Customer service goes through Expedia. If there is an issue at the hotel, your first call is to the OTA, not the property.
For frequent hotel loyalty earners, booking direct is still usually the better play. But for trips where you are not chasing status, or where the discount is significant enough, Uber's new hotel feature is worth a look.
Bottom Line
Uber's Expedia partnership turns the app into a real hotel booking option, particularly for Uber One members who can now earn 10% back in credits on stays. If you already hold a card that covers Uber One for free, like the Amex Platinum or a Capital One Savor card, the savings stack up quickly.
Before your next trip, check whether a hotel shows up in Uber's app at a discount, compare it to the direct rate, and factor in any credits you would earn.
