Here's what the card earns, how its perks work, and which business owners should carry it in 2026.
Marriott Bonvoy Business Card Overview
[[ SINGLE_CARD * {"id": "1190", "isExpanded": "false", "bestForCategoryId": "15", "bestForText": "Business Owners Loyal to Marriott", "headerHint": "Annual Free Night Award"} ]]
Annual Fee: See the card details above for the current annual fee
Welcome Offer: Earn 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy® Bonus Points and 1 Free Night Award after you spend $8,000 in purchases on the Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership. The Free Night Award has a redemption level up to 50,000 points at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy®. Certain hotels have resort fees. Offer ends November 4, 2026.
How You Earn:
- 6X points on eligible purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy®
- 4X points at restaurants worldwide
- 4X points at U.S. gas stations
- 4X points on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers
- 4X points on U.S. purchases for shipping
- 2X points on all other eligible purchases
The 6X is what the card earns. Marriott Bonvoy members also earn base and elite bonus points on paid stays, which is why you may see higher "up to" totals at Marriott hotels.
Best For: Business owners who stay at Marriott hotels and want a path to higher Bonvoy elite status.
Kudos tip: The 4X categories cover common business costs, but another card in your wallet may earn more on some of them. Add your cards to your Kudos Wallet and Kudos recommends the best card for each purchase.

What Benefits Come With the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card?
Annual Free Night Award
You receive 1 Free Night Award every year after your Card renewal month. It's good for one night at a hotel participating in Marriott Bonvoy® with a redemption level at or under 35,000 points. Certain hotels have resort fees.
You can earn a second Free Night Award after you spend $60,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year.
Complimentary Gold Elite Status
Gold Elite status comes with the card. Its perks include bonus points on stays, enhanced room upgrades when available, and priority late checkout when available at participating hotels.
15 Elite Night Credits Each Year
The card adds 15 Elite Night Credits toward Marriott Bonvoy elite status each calendar year. Marriott limits this to 15 credits per member account, but if you also hold an eligible personal Marriott Bonvoy card, you can receive the credits from both. That combination gives you a real head start toward Platinum Elite.
7% Room Rate Discount
As a Marriott Bonvoy member and Card Member, you can get a 7% discount on eligible bookings when you book directly with Marriott through an eligible channel for a participating property under the Amex Business Card Rate. Compare it against other available rates, since it won't always be the lowest price.
Employee Cards and Business Tools
You can add up to 99 Employee Cards, and purchases on those cards earn points for your account. You can also set account alerts and assign a trusted team member to help manage the account.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
American Express doesn't charge foreign transaction fees on purchases made abroad, which helps for international business travel.
Kudos tip: Free Night Awards expire if you don't use them. The Kudos Benefits Tracker keeps your card benefits in one place so you can see what you have before it's gone.

Marriott Bonvoy Business Card Pros and Cons
Pros
- Annual Free Night Award: One night at a property up to 35,000 points each year after renewal
- Status boost: Gold Elite status plus 15 Elite Night Credits, which you can stack with a personal Marriott card
- Useful business categories: 4X at restaurants worldwide, U.S. gas stations, U.S. wireless phone service and U.S. shipping
- Employee Cards: Up to 99, with purchases earning points for your account
- No foreign transaction fees
Cons
- Annual fee: The card carries an annual fee; see the card details for the current amount
- Limited point flexibility: Marriott Bonvoy points are worth the most on Marriott stays, unlike flexible points you can move to multiple travel partners
- Modest everyday earning: 2X outside the bonus categories
- High spend for a second free night: $60,000 in a calendar year
Is the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card Worth It?
For business owners who stay with Marriott even once a year, it usually is. The annual Free Night Award alone can be worth more than the annual fee if you use it at a hotel with a high nightly rate.
It works best as a hotel and status card rather than your main business spending card. Outside of Marriott stays and the 4X categories, a card that earns flexible points or cash back may be a better fit for most purchases.
Who Should Get the Marriott Bonvoy Business Card?
Business travelers loyal to Marriott. 6X at participating hotels, Gold Elite status and the annual free night all reward regular stays.
Status chasers. Pairing this card's 15 Elite Night Credits with a personal Marriott card's credits cuts down the nights you need to stay for Platinum Elite.
Small businesses with team travel. Employee Cards let you pool points from employee spending into one account.
Businesses with shipping and phone bills. 4X on U.S. shipping and U.S. wireless phone service turns routine costs into Bonvoy points.
Who Should Skip It?
- Business owners who rarely stay at Marriott hotels
- Anyone who wants flexible points they can transfer to several airline and hotel partners
- Businesses looking for one card to handle most of their spending
How It Compares to Marriott's Personal Amex Cards
American Express also issues two personal Marriott cards. Many Marriott loyalists hold the business card alongside one of them to stack Elite Night Credits.
Marriott Bonvoy Business vs. Marriott Bonvoy Bevy® American Express® Card
The Bevy has a higher annual fee than the Business card (see the card details for the current amount). Like the Business card, it includes Gold Elite status and 15 Elite Night Credits, but its Free Night Award requires $15,000 in calendar-year spending instead of coming automatically after renewal. It also earns 6X at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy®.
Marriott Bonvoy Business vs. Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card
The Brilliant has the highest annual fee of the three (see the card details for the current amount). It includes Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum Elite status, up to $300 in dining statement credits each calendar year (up to $25 per month), and a Free Night Award each year after renewal worth up to 85,000 points. It's the premium choice for frequent Marriott guests, and it pairs well with the Business card.

Bottom Line
The Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card is one of the easiest hotel cards to justify for a Marriott-loyal business owner. The annual Free Night Award can cover the annual fee on its own, and Gold Elite status plus 15 Elite Night Credits make higher status much easier to reach.
Use it for Marriott stays and its 4X categories, and pair it with a flexible rewards card for everything else.
Kudos recommends the best card in your wallet for each purchase, so your Marriott card earns where it is strongest and another card takes over where it earns more.
