Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day 2026 is live now through June 26, and with hundreds of thousands of deals across every category, it's one of the biggest shopping events of the year. But here's the thing most shoppers miss: the discount Amazon shows you is only part of the story. If you're not pairing your purchases with the right credit card and activating your card-linked offers beforehand, you're leaving real money on the table.

Here's how to shop Prime Day smarter this year.

What's Actually Worth Buying This Prime Day

Not every deal is a deal. A lot of Prime Day "discounts" are prices that were quietly inflated in the weeks before the sale. Your best defense is checking price history before you buy (tools like CamelCamelCamel or Keepa show you whether that "40% off" tag is real).

That said, there are some legitimately strong deals this year:

  • Tech: Apple AirPods Pro 3 are down to $180 (from $249), AirTags 4-pack hit $89, and the MacBook Air M5 is at $950. Amazon's own devices are predictably cheap, with Fire TV Sticks starting at $16.
  • Home and Kitchen: The Dyson V8 cordless vacuum is at a new low ($270), Instant Pot Duo is $65-$70, and Bissell's Little Green is $80-$95, depending on the model.
  • Gift Cards: Some of the most underrated Prime Day deals are discounted gift cards. Right now, you can get $100 Uber for $85, $50 DoorDash for $40, $50 Starbucks for $42.50, and $100 Lowe's for $85. Buying these is essentially instant cash back.
  • Subscriptions: Three free months of Audible, four free months of Amazon Music Unlimited, and Kindle Unlimited for free are all live right now.

The Move Most Shoppers Skip: Stacking Your Credit Card Rewards

Amazon has a massive sale twice a year. What they don't advertise is how much extra value you can stack on top of every purchase just by using the right credit card and activating your card-linked offers (CLOs) first.

Here's what's available this Prime Day:

  • Prime Visa: 10% back on select Prime Day items, plus 7% total back on Amazon purchases (June 23-26) when you choose No-Rush Delivery. If you're approved now, you get a $200 Amazon gift card instantly.
  • Chase Freedom / Chase Freedom Flex®: Earning 5x on Amazon through Q2 2026 (up to $1,500 in spend). This is one of the best stacks available right now.
  • Amex Membership Rewards - The "Pay One Point" Trick: This is one of the best-kept secrets in credit card rewards, and Prime Day is one of the best times to use it. Amex runs targeted promotions where you can get up to 50% off (up to $80) on Amazon just by applying a minimum of 714 Membership Rewards points at checkout. That's about $5 worth of points to unlock up to $80 in savings.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Make sure your Amex card is linked to your Amazon account
  2. Go to amazon.com/amexoffer to check if you're eligible (it's targeted, so not everyone will see it)
  3. Add eligible items to your cart and select your Amex card at checkout
  4. When the points slider appears, adjust it to the minimum required - often just 714 points (~$5) - to trigger the full discount
  5. The discount will show in your order total before you confirm

The key tip: do NOT slide all your points over. Amex points are worth far more when transferred to airline and hotel partners (often 1.5-2 cents per point). Use the bare minimum to trigger the offer and save the rest for high-value redemptions.

Different accounts see different offer tiers. Some see 40% off up to $60, others see 50% off up to $80. Check yours at amazon.com/amexoffer before shopping. There's also a separate standard Amex Offer (spend $40, get 1,000 bonus MR points) available in your Amex account under "Amex Offers" - worth adding to your card too.

Discover — Another "Pay One Point" Deal: Discover runs a very similar promotion to Amex, and it's just as good if you have it. Current offers spotted include 40% off up to $50, 40% off up to $30, 30% off up to $15, and $30 off purchases of $80 or more — all triggered by using just a small amount of Discover Cash Back at checkout.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Add your Discover card to your Amazon Wallet and enroll in "Shop with Points"
  2. Go to amazon.com/discoverpromo to check if you're eligible for a current offer
  3. At checkout, apply just $0.01 worth of Discover Cash Back — that's often enough to trigger the full discount
  4. The savings will appear in your order total before you confirm

Also, check the Discover Offers hub on Amazon for any additional targeted promos on your account. Like Amex, the offers are targeted, so availability varies, but it's worth a 30-second check before any big purchase this week.

Shop with Points: If you have rewards sitting in American Express, Discover, or Citi, Amazon lets you apply them at checkout for additional discounts on top of the sale price.

Amazon Prime Visa Review: Is This Rewards Card Worth It?

Don't Forget Your Card-Linked Offers

Before you buy anything on Prime Day, check your credit card's CLO portal. Card-linked offers are pre-activated discounts tied directly to your card that automatically apply when you shop at eligible merchants. They're separate from your regular rewards earning, which means they stack.

With Kudos, this process is automated. Kudos scans your linked cards for active CLOs and activates them for you so you're never shopping without the best deal available. It also recommends which card in your wallet earns the most on each purchase, so whether you're buying an Instant Pot or stocking up on Dawn Powerwash, you're always using the right card.

Prime Day at Other Retailers (And How to Earn Even More)

Amazon isn't the only one running a sale this week, and savvy shoppers know to compare prices across stores before hitting buy. Here's what's happening everywhere else right now, plus how to maximize each one.

Walmart Deals (June 22-28)

Walmart is running its own competing sale event through June 28, open to all shoppers with extra perks for Walmart+ members. Walmart+ membership is available for $49 or a 30-day trial for $1 right now.

Some highlights already spotted: an inflatable water slide for $189, Crayola colored pencils for $0.97, and competitive pricing on electronics that often matches or beats Amazon.

Here's the Kudos angle: Walmart is a Kudos Boost merchant, which means you can earn bonus cashback on top of your regular credit card rewards when you shop at Walmart through Kudos. Stack that with whatever card-linked offers you have active on your Visa or Mastercard, and you're earning on multiple layers simultaneously. If you're price-comparing between Amazon and Walmart this week, the Boost cashback at Walmart could easily tip the scales.

Target Circle Deal Days (June 23-26)

Target's competing event runs through June 26 and requires a free Target Circle membership. Target is also matching several Amazon prices this week, particularly on Apple products, Amazon Fire Sticks, and popular household brands.

A few notable callouts: Apple AirTags 4-pack for $89 (same as Amazon), Apple AirPods Pro 3 for $179.99 (matching Amazon), and Blink Video Doorbell for $49.99. If you have a Target RedCard, you get an extra 5% off on top of Circle deals, making some of these even better than the Amazon equivalent. Check your card CLO portals for any active Target offers before you shop.

Best Buy Tech Fest (through June 28)

Best Buy - also a Kudos Boost merchant - is competing hard on electronics specifically. If you're eyeing something tech-related this week, check Best Buy before buying on Amazon. They're matching prices on Dyson, Sony, Shark, and Apple products, and some items are actually cheaper. The Logitech MX Master 3S, for example, is $80 at Best Buy vs. $90 on Amazon right now.

Other Sales Worth Knowing

Shopping across retailers also multiplies your CLO opportunities. Many card-linked offers are merchant-specific, so an offer you have at Walmart won't apply at Amazon and vice versa. Checking Kudos before you shop surfaces all your active offers across every store in one place, so you're never guessing.

Quick Tips to Shop Prime Day Like a Pro

Before you check out on anything, run through this list:

  1. Check price history. Use CamelCamelCamel or Keepa to confirm the deal is real.
  2. Activate your CLOs. Log into your card's benefits portal, or let Kudos do it automatically.
  3. Pick the right card. Chase Freedom is 5x on Amazon right now. Amex has active offers. Don't default to whatever card is saved in your browser.
  4. Stack gift card deals. Discounted gift cards at face value are free money, especially for things you'd spend on anyway (Uber, Starbucks, DoorDash).
  5. Check competing retailers. Sometimes the same item is cheaper at Target or Walmart, and you may have a CLO there too.

Prime Day is a great opportunity to save, but only if you're strategic about it. The shoppers who come out ahead aren't just chasing discounts; they're layering every available benefit before they hit buy.
