Capital One's 30% Japan Airlines Transfer Bonus Gets You Close to 1:1 This Month

Capital One is running a 30% transfer bonus to Japan Airlines Mileage Bank from September 1 through September 30, 2026. It is the third time this promotion has run in 2026.
The ratio in plain numbers
Capital One miles normally transfer to JAL at 2:1.5, so 1,000 miles become 750 JAL miles. With the bonus:
- 1,000 Capital One miles becomes 975 JAL miles
- Effective rate: close enough to 1:1 to change the math entirely
- Window: September 1 through 30, 2026
JAL is one of the few Capital One partners that does not transfer at 1:1, so a bonus that closes that gap is worth more than a 30% bonus on a partner already sitting at 1:1.
Why JAL miles are worth having
JAL Mileage Bank is not a filler partner. Its distance-based award chart on JAL's own metal is one of the better remaining values in the space, especially one-way business class between the U.S. West Coast and Tokyo, and short intra-Asia hops. JAL is also a Oneworld member, which opens partner space on American, British Airways and Qantas. The constraints are real. Award availability is tightest on the routes people actually want, and partner awards often require phoning in. Search availability before you transfer. Capital One transfers to JAL are not always instant, and they are never reversible.
Who can use it
Anyone earning Capital One miles, which means the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture Business.

If you are sitting on a large balance without a plan, this is a better-than-usual exit, but only if a JAL redemption is genuinely in your future. If it is not, Capital One's option to redeem miles against travel purchases does not expire on September 30. And since this is the promotion's third run this year, history says it will be back.
