Q2 2026 Rotating 5% Cash Back Categories: All Cards, Activation Links, and Deadlines
July 1, 2025

Chase Freedom, Discover it, Citi Dividend, US Bank Cash Plus, and more have announced their Q2 2026 rotating 5% cash back categories. Here is what earns 5% from April 1 to June 30, 2026, activation deadlines for every card, and how to never miss a category again.
What Are Rotating 5% Cash Back Categories?
Rotating 5% cash back categories are quarterly bonus earning periods offered by select no-annual-fee credit cards. Each quarter, the card issuer announces new spending categories where cardholders can earn 5% cash back instead of the base 1%. The catch: you have to activate the offer manually before the quarter begins, and there is usually a spending cap.
Miss the activation deadline, and you earn 1% instead of 5% for the entire quarter. Use the wrong card at checkout, and you leave money on the table.
Here is every card's Q2 2026 rotating category, activation link, and spending cap in one place.
Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom Q2 2026 Categories
5% categories: Amazon, Whole Foods Market, Chase Travel, and Feeding America donations
Spending cap: $1,500 in combined purchases
Active: April 1 through June 30, 2026
Amazon is the headline for Q2 2026. The category covers purchases at Amazon.com, including digital downloads, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and items sold by third-party merchants through Amazon's marketplace. Whole Foods Market purchases are included both in-store and online.
Chase Travel covers flights, hotels, car rentals, and cruises booked through ChaseTravel.com. Feeding America donations also qualify, making this one of the rare quarters where charitable giving earns elevated cash back.
What does not qualify: Amazon Pay purchases at third-party sites, international Amazon sites, and Whole Foods products ordered through Instacart, Shipt, or similar services.

Grocery stores make the Citi Dividend a standout pick for Q2 2026 household spending. Citi Travel covers bookings made through the Citi Travel portal.
The $6,000 annual cap is one of the highest in the rotating category space, spread across all four quarters. That means if you have not maxed out earlier quarters, you have more room to earn in Q2.

US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card Q2 2026 Categories
5% categories: Your choice of two from a list of 12
Spending cap: $2,000 in combined net purchases across your two chosen categories
Active: April 1 through June 30, 2026
Available Q2 2026 categories to choose from: Home Utilities, Electronics Stores, Sporting Goods Stores, Ground Transportation, TV/Internet and Streaming, Department Stores, Select Clothing Stores, Gyms and Fitness Centers, Furniture Stores, Cell Phones, Fast Food, and Movie Theaters.
The flexibility is the differentiator. If you pay a large home utility bill monthly, selecting that category alone could hit the $2,000 cap and earn $100 back. Pair it with a second high-spend category like streaming, fast food, or gyms, and you are maximizing every dollar.
Important: You must select your two categories before the quarter begins. Log in now to make your selections before April 1.

Do Rotating Categories Auto-Activate?
No. Every card on this list requires manual activation each quarter. This is the most common and costly mistake cardholders make with rotating category cards. You get the card, earn big in quarter one, and then forget to activate the next quarter. The category runs for three months at 1%, and you never notice until it is too late.
Kudos helps fix this. When you visit your issuer portal with Kudos installed, Kudos tracks your active card benefits and reminds you which offers still need attention. At checkout, it recommends the right card based on what is currently activated, so you never have to remember which quarter covers which category.
Over 400,000 members save an average of $441 annually just by using the right card at the right moment.

FAQ
When do I need to activate Q2 2026 rotating categories?
Before April 1, 2026. Some issuers allow activation after the quarter starts, but purchases made before activation typically do not earn the 5% rate. Activate now to cover the full quarter.
Can I use more than one 5% rotating category card in Q2 2026?
Yes. Each card's spending cap is separate. You can earn 5% on Amazon with Chase Freedom up to $1,500 and separately earn 5% on groceries with Citi Dividend up to your remaining annual cap.
What happens if I forget to activate my rotating category?
You earn your base rate (usually 1%) for the entire quarter on those purchases. There is typically no way to retroactively apply the 5% rate after the fact.
How does Kudos help with rotating category cards?
Kudos tracks your activated offers and recommends your best card at checkout in real time. When you visit your issuer portal with Kudos installed, it helps you stay on top of which cards need activation each quarter.
How does the Citi Dividend $6,000 cap work?
Unlike other rotating category cards that reset a quarterly cap each quarter, Citi Dividend gives you one $6,000 annual cap shared across all four quarters. You can use all $6,000 in Q2 alone if groceries and Citi Travel are your biggest spend categories, save it for a later quarter with better categories, or spread it across all four quarters. The flexibility is a major advantage over cards with a fixed $1,500 quarterly cap.
When do Q3 2026 rotating categories get announced?
Q3 2026 categories (July 1 through September 30) are typically announced in late June. We will update this post as soon as categories are confirmed.
